Millom Network Centre awarded Big Lottery Award!

Millom Network Centre has been awarded £173,900 grant funding from the Big Lottery

over the next three years towards their Opportunities for Rural Communities Project.

This money will be used in a variety of ways including: hosting more business events, increasing learning support including use of IT, running more learning courses

(including family learning) and there will be an amount of capital to cover refurbishment and materials for a community garden – the Nicholson Courtyard.

On receiving the award letter for  MNC, Chairman David Owen said…

“We are absolutely delighted with the Big Lottery award for Millom Network Centre.  

This will have a huge and long lasting impact for the local area in many ways.

The Millom Network Centre only opened in December 2006 and has already proved

very popular in providing learning opportunities and in supporting the start up and

growth of local businesses.  This award now allows the Centre to reach new levels

and to develop new educational and employment opportunities for people

living in the rural town of Millom and the surrounding area.  

We will now be able to provide a more varied programme of education, business mentoring, business and network events, parental support, family learning and

family support.  We will also now be able to provide an attractive courtyard area

for outdoor performance, adult learning and to relax between meetings.  

We are very excited about the future thanks to the Big Lottery!”
