Adult Education

Cumbria Adult Education Service’s mission is “…strengthening and sustaining the people and communities of Cumbria through the power of learning” and purpose “to enrich the quality of life within Cumbria by encouraging learning as a life-long activity and by making education available and accessible to the widest possible range of the county’s residents”.

In October 2006, CAES was assessed and achieved the Matrix Standard.

Learners and partners commented on the passion and commitment shown by staff. For learners in particular, this was apparent through the staff’s willingness to ‘go the extra mile’

Millom Network Centre uses Taster Sessions to let Learners sample courses to determine both appropriate skill and knowledge level and to establish whether courses were appropriate for them. The Centre also offered tea and coffee drop-in sessions where learners could discuss their needs informally with staff.

Cumbria Adult Education are to the Matrix Standard, ensuring all learners and potential learners are offered high quality information, advice and guidance.
